Ten years later I was living in Memphis and went to the candlelight vigil the night before the anniversary of his death. It was an incredible experience. There were people there from all over the world and they shared Elvis stories as we waited for hours to file past his gravesite. We were given candles as we entered the gates of Graceland and the nonstop chattering ceased and we were engulfed in silence.
My friends and I had decided at the last minute to go to Graceland that night to see some of the "crazies" who came every year to honor The King of Rock and Roll....but we came away with a different view. Elvis brought people together with his music and in death he continued to bring people together.
Elvis would have loved these cupcakes!
