Pre-Thanksgiving Cupcakes

I told myself that I was not going to post Thanksgiving-themed cupcakes too early this year...but I just can't help it.  I love the icing & leaf sprinkles & fondant pumpkins.  I guess they don't have to be for Thanksgiving.  It is autumn!

Mother Nature & a Cupcake Display

My house is located on top of Spooner Summit near the east shore of Lake Tahoe.  For the past few years the forest service has been cutting trees on the property as part of a beetle infestation and fuels reduction project.  We have rounds of wood all over the place...and I am constantly walking through the woods looking for perfect rounds to make cupcake displays.  Finding a perfect slice is not as easy as you would think.  I love using wood slices and rounds to make a cupcake display.

Autumn Cupcakes

I just can't get enough of autumn...even though it really isn't here yet.  These cupcakes from Taste of Home are easy to make - roll out gumdrops and cut them with miniature leaf cookie cutters.  Bookmark these for your Thanksgiving feast!

First Day of Fall

Today is officially the first day of fall.  The temperatures around Lake Tahoe this morning were mid-20s (north shore) to mid-30s (south shore).  Our first snowfall can't be far behind...I hope!

Fall Leaves

I am really starting to get into the Thanksgiving spirit...even decorated some around the house today.  It put me in the mood for some cupcakes decorated with autumn leaves!

Celebrate Autumn!

We are having a great leaf change at Lake Tahoe but due to our lack of moisture it will probably only last a few days (it has only rained once since the snow melted last May).  I plan to have a chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream and enjoy the reds, oranges and yellows as long as they last!
