- Test and clean smoke alarms once a month and replace batteries at least once a year. Smoke alarms greatly increase your chances of surviving a fire at home.
- Have an escape plan. Review escape routes with your family.
- Make sure wiring does not run under rugs, over nails, or across high traffic areas.
- Do not overload extension cords or outlets.
- Keep an eye on what you are cooking - never leave food unattended on the stove.
- Teach children fire safety - keep matches & lighters away from children.

National Fire Prevention Week 2010
National Fire Prevention Week is October 3-9, 2010 and I think cupcakes are the best way to spread the word! Decorate cupcakes with a fire theme and give a fire safety tip when you deliver them!
